Below are fencing equipment suppliers with which we have experience. When ordering equipment for the first time, we strongly recommend that you CALL the supplier directly on the telephone in order to get the best fit possible.

AFS sells almost anything you could want for fencing. They also have an excellent selection of fencing books and videos, including those of Maestro Charles Selberg. Their quality is good, and their reputation is excellent. If you travel to San Francisco, stop by their store.

We have had several students purchase equipment from Blade Fencing and be happy with it. Their leather foil grips are very nice, especially for smaller hands.

We have had several students purchase equipment from the Post and be happy with it. Their rubber/plastic grips are very nice, especially for smaller hands. They are increasingly catering to the classical fencing world. The Post is also one of the few places carrying true ricasso Italian foils anymore, not to mention actual fencing pants!

Physical Chess

Phone: (800) FENCING
Fax: (877) 650-3069 (toll free)

We have ordered a couple of things from Physical Chess and been satisfied. Their prices are quite reasonable.

Tri Cities Academy of the Sword
333 Front Street
Binghamton, NY 13902
Phone: (570) 663-9212
Web site: http://www.tcasfencing.com/supplies.htm
For students interested in Italian foils, this is the place to go. This group of historical and classical fencers have begun making their own Italian foil parts to deal with the void left by commercial manufacturers (none of which manufacture Italian foil blades any longer).
Salem-area fencers:
Please consult with Mr. Heggen before ordering Italian foil parts.

Triplette Competition Arms
101 E. Main Street
Elkin, North Carolina 28621
Phone: (336) 835-7774
Fax: (336) 835-4099

TCA has a very good selection of fencing equipment. Their prices are good. However, in the spring of 2003 several students had a series of problems, mostly relating to poor quality control on the part of TCA (foils, bags, masks, gloves).
