 | Respect the weapons. When carrying your weapon, be aware of the point of
your weapon so that you do not cause injury to another person. |
 | Respect the instructor or fencing master. |
 | Remember that fencing is a sport with
traditions that should be
honored and respected. |
 | Always be courteous, polite, and well-mannered at the club. |
 | Welcome all newcomers warmly. They are the future lifeblood of the
studio. |
 | Wear non-marring shoes to fence in to
protect the floor. |
 | Always salute your opponent/partner before putting on your mask and before
beginning to spar or bout. |
 | Always salute and shake ungloved hands with your opponent/partner at the conclusion of
your sparring session or bout. |
 | If, during a bout or sparring session, you disarm your opponent/partner, you
must immediately and courteously retrieve his weapon. |
 | Recreational fencing is a co-ed sport. Sexual harassment is not part of
either sportsmanship or courtesy. Sexual harassment is grounds for
disciplinary action by the club and should be reported immediately. |
 | The complete fencing outfit (mask, jacket, and glove) must be worn while
fencing or taking lessons. Legs must be covered to below the knee (at least)
by knickers, sweat-pants, or tights. Under no circumstances will shorts be
tolerated. |
 | The fencing outfit should be kept clean and in proper order. |
 | Do not take any of the club's equipment from the club without the consent of
the instructor. |
 | Do not borrow others equipment without the owner's consent. |
 | Any equipment of the club's which is damaged by a member will be replaced or
repaired at that same members expense. |
 | Respect and take care of the club's property and the facility we use. |
 | Do not take yourself too seriously. Fencing is a sport, after all. |
 | No one should be ignorant of the rules of the club. |
